I agree vigorously that we should begin squad/team tactic training. We (I) could really benefit from the workup and familiarization activities, then apply them to the field during our scenarios.
One part of the tactics, would be to assess the parts of a strike team. Using the positions from Specops Brigade, we can identitify the purpose of a particular team, and the members of that team can decide which position fits them the best. Some of us may prefer the Broadsword, or perhaps the Dagger position, by assessing this we can develop teams that function well.
ReplyDeleteSEVERAL OPTIONS EXIST FOR THE TYPES OF TRAINING WE NEED. OPSGEAR HAS A FACILITY THAT DOES URBAN ASSULT AND THERE ARE A LOT OF LOCAL PLACES WHERE TEAM TACTICS COULD BE TESTED AND TRIED AGAINST A VARITY OF OPPONENT TYPES. TO RESPOND TO BRIAN I THINK THAT THEY WAY SECOPS HAS THEIR TEAM LAY OUT IS THE BEST ONE I HAVE SEEN BUT LETS TRY OUR OWN STUFF AND SEE WHAT WORKS. THEY ARE SET UP FOR TEN AND I THINK WE NEE TO BE ABLE TO RUN IN UNITS OF 5, 7, AND TEN. IT SEEMS THAT THOSE ARE THE NUMBER OF GUYS THAT YOU END UP WITH, ITS ALMOST A MURPHY'S LAW. SO IN ESSENCE I AGREE WITH YOU BRIAN I JUST THINK WE NEED TO FIELD TEST ALOT OF IDEAS.
ReplyDeleteI just picked up a Special Weapons Magazine. Although it is geared for Law enforcement and Military, it has some very viable info in a article about the "Ten Critical points of team tactics", I can see direct application for the regiment. I will make a photocopy of it to pass around to everyone at our next meeting.
ReplyDeleteChanging direction in this blog alittle, I would point it towards critqing our training engagements that we have been having at the Kill House. Todays(2/10/07) was a good outing, as we worked on the Diamond formation again and moving against a larger OPFOR. I think that this should continue as standard drill for the Regiment as we are taking in new members, And to continue developing skills.
