Equipment & Materials

Another transplanted comment from Brian. Hmmm. . . I can see we need to have an actual forum, not just a blog. Working on it. . .

Well since this one is for disscussing what is needed, I would say that the RangerBall Regiment needs to make its first purchase be a quality Chrono. This item being used at every event will let everyone playing know that there are rules and they are expected to play by them. Besides it is also a question of safe gaming, nobody wants to see a injury on the field resulting from a marker turned up to high. There is my two cents.

Just came from the Desert Edge site, and wow have they got it together. Also went onto Danger Dan's Blog, looks pretty good as well. One item that really caught my attention was that in a game that he was producing, he had awards for different things. for example, prizes for MVP, Best Commander, Tactical Excellance, and so forth. I really like this idea and would love to implement it into our large Scenarios at least. Perhaps even do it to a degree for other events that we do. Anyhow I think that relative items would make ideal prizes, such as paint, Paintball grenades, protective gear(throat guard), equipment upgrades, gift cards to designated stores, Two-way radio packages, etc. This rewards good play, and encourages future involvment across the board. Once again there is my two-cents.

Brian I think you are on the right track. Rewarding good play is a great way to encourage people to come and show up. I think that we should explore our options and try to set this up. I also think that we may want to try to set up some sort of equipment swap so people can trade or buy old equimpment that other people don't want or need. Just a thought.

Great Idea, Mikhail. We can set up a equipment trade page on this blog for that very purpose. At the very least offer gear to the group before selling it elsewhere. As for the Rewarding, I think we need to decide which qualities we want to reward and bring out in our players. And then reward appropriately.

Another Idea, I was looking in a paintball Magazine the other day, and noticed a Paintball Landmine. It is triggered by 3lbs of pressure, and then sprays paint everywhere. I think that this would be a great investment for the Rangerball Regiment. Imagine the scenarios you could devise with a couple of landmines at your disposal?? Gets the ol' mind a crankin.

Haven't been on in a while, life you know. Anyway I already have some basic plans for a land mine and they are reusable and cost about 4-5 bucks to make. In the next few weeks i will have one made up. Just don't have enough time beteen now and black thorn. I also have proto types that I will test in Black thorn so it will be interesting.

Dan Saunders says that one of the table-top radar chronos costs about $350. Ouch! Maybe we just go for a hand-held first. $80 or so.

Hey Ryan, those are good ideas. Now that we have so,e capital we should prioritize the teams needs and start pricing them out. How much would a scuba tank cost us, along with a filling station? Also what kind of tent would we want? The Marker rack is a good idea, also perhaps matching barrel plugs/covers for the team members? I think that matching uniforms is a definate step that will need to be taken.

i have priced ount a co2 station in the past and for a 75 lb tank and the scale and the fill valve it is like 300-350 depending on who you go through, and any where between 15 and 35 to fill. i have yet to price compressed air or n2.

New topic for Equipment: we have been talking recently about what the regiment needs. I am making the informal motion that a common uniform be adopted and acquired by each member of the Regiment. There has been alot of informal discussion as to which pattern the Regiment should adopt, to this end, I will also make the motion that the Army ACU be adopted for the Rangerball Regiment. I am willing to hear any discussion on these two Motions put forth.
